-The children continued presenting their "Overall Me" posters to the class and learning about each other.
-They reached their goal for "Read to Self" stamina and even passed it, reading for 17 minutes straight without losing focus!
-I introduced "Read to Someone" and "Word Work" goals for reading workshop time. Soon I'll be able to start small group reading instruction.
-We've had many read-alouds, including some math stories - One Red Rooster and Two Ways to Count to Ten.
-We started chapter 2 in math which focuses on number bonds - the foundation of what we'll be doing this year to learn about addition, subtraction, and how they're related.
-We incorporated iPads into several lessons - handwriting, math, and writing.
-We had fun and stretched our brains during makerspace with Mrs. Wylie. The children made paper towers, airplanes, and structures with Legos and K'nex.
On Monday I plan to send home information about Raz Kids and IXL. Look for that via email and in your child's HOOT folder.
